While there are valuable degree programs that can certify you as a diesel technician, it is not a requirement. As a diesel technician, you have the opportunity to complete in-house and factory training, making it possible to advance from an entry-level technician to A-Level or even a master technician within 4 years. An employee’s work ethic and application of the knowledge they gain are key to individual growth and success.
Most Kenworth Northeast shops have two shifts, day and evening. Technicians work 8-hour shifts with a shift differential for evening shifts.
The answer to this question depends on you. Each person’s earning potential depends on things like their willingness to learn, attention to detail, and follow-through. On average, a diesel technician’s pay can range from $20-$40/hour depending on the location.
